Yadkin Valley Wine Festival

These Mt Airy businesses were set up at the Yadkin Valley Wine Festival this past Saturday in Elkin. 

13 Bones served up their famous grilled chicken, pork and BBQ...delicious!

Round Peak had a terrific booth with many of their tasty wines....

Olde Mill had their famous banner directing traffic to their booth....

Steve Lindsley opens Round Peak Vineyard's Summer Grillfest Series

Ahhhhh....the beautiful views from Round Peak Vineyard....this was a visitor from Galax, VA enjoying the evening here.

Summer Grillfest has begun, so next time make sure you head over to Round Peak, bring some steaks and a picnic, and grill out on the patio with a wonderful glass of wine and relax after a long week...   

This Friday, Steve Lindsley entertained the crowd, and even the owner of Round Peak, Kari Heerdt, got up to sing along!

The Fabulous Shakers drew a huge crowd of all ages...



Many could not help themselves...they had to dance!

Budbreak Festival in downtown Mount Airy last Saturday

The Budbreak Festival was Saturday, May 5th, on Main Street.

Food was provided by 13 Bones...



Music provided by Bobby Keys....

Art and crafts were also a part of the festival...

and wood turning....

But most of the crowd came to sample wonderful wines....

and Un'Corked hosted Weathervane...

There was also some local wineries...here is Slightly Askew from Elkin.

Kids Unplugged at Riverside Park

Saturday was filled with fun for kids at Riverside Park. 

The event was called Unplugged, as a reference for getting kids outside and having fun, instead of attached to a video game or TV.

The Girl Scouts where there with a face painting tent...



But there were other fun activities, such as dancing...

Cornhole games....

Fishing....

...and fun with daddy!  It was a great day at the park, and a really special day if you're a kid!

Mount Airy Rotary sponsors wine judging at Old North State Winery

Bottles were lined up for judging last night at Old North State Winery.

Best in the show for red and white wines...judging was sponsored by the Rotary.

It was a great turnout for the first night of the Budbreak Festival.

Looks like someone was pretty excited about the goodies on the table!

Everyone was enjoying delicious wines throughout the evening.





Jazz singer, Melva Houston, and musician, Bobby Keys (of the Rolling Stones) provided the entertainment.
